Hope is lost. Faith is broken. A fire will rise

Those three brief quotes in the trailer sum up the intensity of what has to be one of the most highly anticipated finales in film history. And here is the final trailer for that film; The Dark Knight Rises – now THIS is the must-see superhero film of the year!

The interesting thing about this trailer is the way it starts calmly through use of music with some jaw-dropping moments added in, including the brilliant looking plane heist and the destruction of a couple of Gotham City bridges. Add in that breathtaking destruction of the football field sequence and the flying Batman ship from the previous trailer and you have immensity already!

What we can gather is that Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale) clashes with our new villain Bane (Tom Hardy) and finds himself badly hurt but eventually rising from the ‘ashes’ to confront his nemesis in a thrilling finale. There’s a lot more Catwoman here with Anne Hathaway looking exceptional in the role while we get to see a bit more of Joseph Gordon-Levitt too though its not known who his character will be.

I am tempted to say this could be my film of the year already (as it was with The Dark Knight in 2008) judging from the two brilliant trailers but there’s a lot more blockbuster films to come in 2012. But come July 20th, I will hopefully be sat in an IMAX waiting for the dark knight to rise again!
