Steve Coogan is porn baron Paul Raymond in trailer for The Look of Love

As Steve Coogan prepares to reprise his iconic role as flamboyant broadcaster Alan Partridge (A-HA!) in the upcoming Alan Partridge Movie, the British comedian actor will be next seen on our screens as he plays another controversial character in the true-life biopic The Look of Love. An official trailer has been just been released and can be seen below.

The film sees Coogan reunite with director Michael Winterbottom for the fourth time (having previously worked together on 24 Hour Party People, A Cock and Bull Story and The Trip) as he takes on the role of British entrepreneur Paul Raymond.

It depicts Raymond’s time from the late 1950s to the 1990s as it shows how he became one of the richest men in Britain when he built up an empire worth £1.5 billion which included gentleman’s clubs, porn magazines and nude theatres. The film also deals with his personal life which includes two marriages as well as focusing on his relationship with daughter Debbie who would became heir to his business.

The lovely Anna Friel (Pushing Daises, Land of the Lost) and Tamsin Egerton (St Trinians, 4.3.2.1) co-star as Raymond’s respective wives Jean and Fiona while Imogen Poots (Fright Night, Jane Eyre) plays Debbie.

There is also a surprisingly solid support cast of male comedians that appear including Little Britain duo Matt Lucas and David Walliams plus Chris Addison (The Thick of It, In the Loop), Stephen Fry (Blackadder, QI) and Dara O’Brien (Mock the Week).

The Look of Love will be released in cinemas on April 26th.
