Star Wars spinoff film The Mandalorian & Grogu in the works, Jon Favreau to direct

Buckle up Star Wars fans, The Mandalorian is heading for the big-screen!

Disney have confirmed that the adventures of Din Djarin and his beloved sidekick Grogu (a.k.a. Baby Yoda) will be given the cinematic treatment in an upcoming film entitled The Mandalorian & Grogu.

The two popular characters first came to our attention in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian which ran from three series between 2019 and 2023. The spin-off of the hugely-successful sci-fi franchise was a big hit with critics and audiences so it’s come as no surprise to see the story continue on a bigger scale.

Having created the original series, Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Lion King) will helm the big-screen outing which will begin filming later this year. On the project, Favreau said;

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

Additionally, Favreau will produce the film alongside LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni.

A release date is likely to be sometime in the next couple of years in what will be the first Star Wars to hit cinemas since The Rise of Skywalker (2019). This is the Way!
