For many film lovers, Judy Garland will always be acknowledged as the one of the all-time Hollywood greats.
The American actress, singer and dancer enchanted generations of fans with her sublime voice in a number of memorable film roles like The Wizard of Oz (1939), Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), Easter Parade (1948) and A Star is Born (1954).
Her later years are now set to be the focus of an upcoming biopic which sees Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jones trilogy, Chicago, Cold Mountain) tackle the iconic role.
Simply entitled Judy, the film’s new full-length trailer can be seen below:
Directed by Rupert Goold (The Hollow Crown, King Charles III), the biopic centres on an ageing Judy as she arrives in London to perform a series of sold-out concerts in 1968. In preparation for the shows, she finds herself battling with her management while also reminiscing about her glory years with her friends and adoring fans.
Zellweger is supported in the film by a number of familiar names including Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose, Chernobyl), Finn Wittrock (The Big Short, La La Land), Rufus Sewell (Victoria, The Man in the High Castle), Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, The Worst Witch), Gemma-Leah Devereux (The Tudors, Casualty), Darci Shaw (The Bay) and Michael Gambon (Harry Potter series, The King’s Speech).
Judy will take you ‘somewhere over the rainbow’ when it is released in the UK on 4 October.
