Modern Family’s Ty Burrell voices in official trailer for Mr. Peabody & Sherman

In recent years, Ty Burrell has made us laugh with his sublime role as Phil Dunphy in the successive US sitcom Modern Family.

His deserved popularity looks set to continue as he voices one of the greatest cartoon dogs in the form of Mr. Peabody.

The brainy mutt and his trusty companion Sherman have been immortalised onto the big-screen for next year with an official trailer (via YOUTUBE) being unveiled earlier today.

The CGI-animated adventure sees Mr. Peabody (Burrell) trying to get his adoptive human son Sherman (The Amazing Spider-Man’s Max Charles) to befriend new neighbour Penny (voiced by Burrell’s Modern Family co-star Ariel Winter). However their unity brings trouble when the trio end up going back in time via a machine called The Way Back and find themselves having to mend important events in world history.

Sounds a bit like Back to the Future and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure if you ask me….

The Dreamworks animation also features the voices of Stephen Colbert (The Stephen Colbert Show), Leslie Mann (Knocked Up, This is 40), Patrick Warburton (Family Guy, Ted), Stanley Tucci (Beethoven, The Lovely Bones) and Mel Brooks (Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety).

Mr Peabody & Sherman will be released in cinemas on February 7th 2014.
