Lynn, Michael and Dave Clifton amongst old faces to return for The Alan Partridge Movie

It’s time to kiss my face Alan Partridge fans! Following last year’s major news that Norwich’s favourite DJ would be making his big-screen debut in 2013, there has been some further welcoming information for supporters of the classic television sitcom to savour….

According to Variety, some characters from the I’m Alan Partridge series are set to return for the film including Partridge’s loyal PA Lynne (Felicity Montagu), Geordie friend Michael (Simon Greenall) and DJ rival DJ Dave Clifton (Phil Cornwell).

One of the co-creators of the show, Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It, In the Loop), has confirmed that the film’s plot will involve Partridge (Steve Coogan) doing battle with a media giant after his radio station North Norfolk Digital is taken over by the corporation. Sidekick Simon (Tim Key) is another returnee who is part of that storyline following his role in the recent Partridge spin-off series Mid Morning Matters.

There will also be new faces in the cast including Colm Meaney (Last of the Mohicans, Con-Air), Anna Maxwell Martin (The Bletchley Circle, South Riding) and Sean Pertwee (Dog Soldiers, Luther) with Father Ted director Declan Lowney helming the big-screen adaptation.

It has also been confirmed that some scenes will be shot in the title character’s home region of North Norfolk including the town centre. Producer Kevin Loader went on to reveal that there will be a large-scale car chase which sees Partridge pursued by police cars and ambulances as part of the plot.

“It is quite an intricate sequence. We are having a lot of fun. It is hard work but we are very pleased with how funny it is. There are a lot of laughs on set.”

The film has already begun filming with a release date supposedly set for August.
After finding out all that information, there is only one thing to say about all this cracking news especially as one who is now an Alan Partridge fan….”Back of the net!”
