As Hunger Games fans eagerly await the release of Catching Fire in November, a major casting has been announced regarding a key character in the next sequel.

BBC News has reported that Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights, Far From Heaven) will play the role of District 13 President Coin in the upcoming third film of the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay.

News of Moore’s casting was mentioned back in June but her appearance in the two-part film has now been officially confirmed.

Coin plays a crucial role in the concluding story of the series as she clashes with central character Everdeen Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) over the Panem uprising.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will be released in cinemas on November 21st 2014 with Part 2 released on November 20th 2014.
