Throughout her film career, Jessica Chastain has found herself playing a number of different protagonists who have been dealt tough jobs such as hunting for terrorists, rescuing astronauts or lobbying for gun control.
But the two-time Oscar-nominated star of The Help (2011), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), The Martian (2015) and Miss Sloane (2016) is taking a dark turn for her next project which sees her FINALLY join a comic-book film.
Jessica confirmed on Instagram today that she has landed a key role in the upcoming X-Men prequel Dark Phoenix which is set to begin filming in Montreal soon.
It is understood that the red-haired beauty will be playing Princess Lilandra of the Shi’ar Empire, the former lover of Charles Xavier / Professor X who embarks on a mission to destroy Jean Grey after she becomes the ultra-powerful Dark Phoenix.
Jessica will be reuniting with former co-star James McAvoy (Charles) who previously worked with her on the romantic drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (2013).
There are a high number of big-names returning for the follow-up to X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) which include Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Evan Peters (Quicksilver), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler).
