Five actresses competing for lead female role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Chris Evans really is one lucky bleeder isn’t he? Having already worked with beautiful actresses such as Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Alba and Hayley Atwell, the Avengers star is now set to work alongside one of out of five potential stunners who are competing for the lead female role in the Marvel sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Deadline has confirmed that the five actresses hoping to play Sharon Carter (the great-niece of Steve Roger’s former lover Peggy) are Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Teresa Palmer (I am Number Four), Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and Alison Brie (Mad Men).

To make this film more appealing to the male audience, Johansson is also being tipped to reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow as part of the Marvel Universe link.

Sexy stuff. From my perspective the only actress I consider worthy for the sequel is Emilia Clarke who has really set tongues wagging in the last couple of years with her alluring role as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series Game of Thrones. There is also the British factor which is important in her case as well as sharing a similar likeness to Atwell which would make their relation to each other possible.

At the moment though, it is understood that Brie and Poots are the stronger candidates at this point.

Evans will reprise his role as the World War II superhero with Anthony Russo and Joe Russo taking over directing duties. The sequel will be out on April 4th 2014.
