First things first, I apologise for not keeping my promise of making monthly Oscar predictions….
However I am a working man these days hence the limit to what I have been writing on the site lately. But with the 86th Academy Award nominations set to be announced tomorrow afternoon (13:30 GMT), U have managed to come up with my final nomination predictions of this fantastic Oscar season.
What can we expect from tomorrow then? 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle and Gravity should all be leading the way but expect some multiple mentions for the likes of Captain Phillips and the upcoming The Wolf of Wall Street.
I personally hope that Saving Mr Banks AND Philomena can get nominated in Best Picture but that will depend on whether the Academy are prepared to mention ten films in that category (which hasn’t happened since 2010).
I also hope that the likes of Emma Thompson (Mr Banks), Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Daniel Bruhl (Rush) and Steve Coogan’s screenplay for Philomena are mentioned too. I will be terribly disappointed if the harshly-treated Prisoners doesn’t at least garner one nomination tomorrow!
Here are my final nomination predictions for this year’s competition….
