Comic’s greatest super-heroine has finally been cast as Wonder Woman makes her big-screen comeback in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, Superman vs. Batman.

The lucrative role has been secured by Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot, star of three Fast & Furious films as well as Knight & Day and Date Night.

She will star alongside Henry Cavill (reprising his role as Clark Kent/Superman) and new Bruce Wayne/Batman actor Ben Affleck.

On the surprise casting, director Zack Snyder said:

“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favourite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

Gadot’s involvement in the film has already raised a few eyebrows with some fans disappointed that she got the part over the likes of Gina Carano (Haywire) and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace, Oblivion).

The 28-old will be hoping to silence those doubters when the superhero blockbuster comes out in summer 2015.
