Elizabeth Olsen cast as Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Having spent many years in the shadow of her celebrity siblings Mary-Kate and Ashley, actress Elizabeth Olsen is starting to create major success for herself with a number of high-profile films.

But after weeks of ongoing speculation, the Wall Street Journal have revealed that the Martha Marcy May Marlene star has been officially confirmed to star as the Scarlet Witch in the hugely-anticipated superhero sequel The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Her involvement in the film was mentioned by her new co-star Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) who also spoke about the beginning of production.

“I think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy and that we added Ms Olsen. I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.”

Olsen is starting to compile a promising CV of projects and will soon be seen alongside Jackson in the upcoming Oldboy remake which is due out in December. She is also starring in another reboot, this time Gareth Edwards’ take on Godzilla, which comes out in 2014.

Meanwhile her co-star from the latter film, Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Anna Karenina), has reportedly been cast in the Marvel sequel as well in the role of Scarlet Witch’s brother Quicksilver. Official confirmation of that particular info will be made later on.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released in cinemas on May 1st 2015.
