Hollywood’s fascination with remakes and reboots has become a recurring theme with cinema nowadays with most of them backfiring badly.
But in the case of National Lampoon’s Vacation, it looks like they may have found a hidden gem in its upcoming reboot which mixes old and new actors into a story that shares similarities to the 1983 classic.
A brilliant red-band trailer for the crude comedy premiered on the internet earlier today.
Directed by Horrible Bosses writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, the plot sees Clark Griswold’s son Rusty (played by The Hangover star Ed Helms) take his wife and sons on a trip to Wally World theme park, the same place that he and his family visited in the original film.
Christina Applegate (Married with Children, Anchorman) plays Rusty’s wife Debbie while Chevy Chase (Caddyshack, Community) and Beverly D’Angelo (Coal Miner’s Daughter, American History X) both reprise their previous Vacation roles as Clark and Ellen.
The part of their daughter Audrey is filled by Leslie Mann (The 40 Year Old Virgin, This is 40) with Chris Hemsworth (Rush, The Avengers: Age of Ultron) featuring as her husband Stone. The Australian actor makes an eye-catching appearance in the trailer that involves a prosthetic penis which is sure to please many female fans!
Vacation will be released in the UK on November 13th.
