Dane DeHann and Jamie Foxx confirmed for The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Following a successful return to the big-screen via a reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man has already gained a sequel with director Marc Webb and lead stars Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacey) back on board.

However some further news regarding casting has been confirmed by Webb who revealed on his Twitter account last night that young actor Dane DeHann (Chronicle, Lawless) has been chosen for the role of Peter Parker’s best friend Harry Osborn.

“Meet Harry Osborn. So excited to have him on board”

For those who’ve read the comics or seen Sam Raimi’s original trilogy, Harry is the son of Spider-Man foe Norman ‘Green Goblin’ Osborn, and was previously played by Oscar-nominated actor James Franco (Pineapple Express, 127 Hours).

Harry goes on to don the Green Goblin costume following the death of his father. It remains unclear how Harry will be portrayed in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 though it is probable that he will bond with Peter as there is no news regarding Norman’s involvement.

Given DeHann’s creepy performance in Chronicle, this is an intriguing choice for the part and hopefully it’ll continue to gain him more lucrative role.

Meanwhile, an even bigger casting coup was confirmed by Webb today with Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx (Ray, Django Unchained) taking on the role of the villainous Electro.
So we now have three newcomers for the sequel with Foxx, DeHann and The Descendent’s Shailene Woodley (as Mary-Jane Watson) all accounted for.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release on May 2nd, 2014.
