Although his career has been somewhat mixed, Colin Farrell is set for a busy next few months beginning with a small part in the Mary Poppins biopic Saving Mr Banks.
But a return to leading man status is upcoming for the In Bruges actor as he stars in the 2014 romantic fantasy Winter’s Tale. The official trailer for the film premiered earlier today (via YOUTUBE).
Directed by Akiva Goldsman (writer of Cinderella Man and The Da Vinci Code), the story sees Farrell play a thief in 1916 New York who breaks in a dying woman’s house only to fall in love with her. Miraculously he finds himself alive 100 years later and looks to try and piece together memories of his past.
British actress Jessica Brown Findlay (Albatross, Downton Abbey) co-stars as the thief’s lover with A Beautiful Mind duo Jennifer Connelly and Russell Crowe reuniting with their respective roles as a modern-day woman who helps the thief and a sinister mob boss.
Additional support also comes from Oscar-winners William Hurt (Children of a Lesser God, Vantage Point) and Eva Marie Saint (On the Waterfront, Superman Returns).
The film will be released in the UK on February 21st.
