Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper team up to fight crime in American Hustle trailer

The last couple of years have gone very well for director David O.Russell after putting aside his horrid reputation (much to the disapproval of George Clooney!) to make two gritty and well-established films that both performed well at the Oscars.

His newest film, the crime-drama American Hustle, sees him link up with five of his actors from those two respective films, The Fighter (2011) and Silver Linings Playbook (2012), as he looks to prove he has what it takes to land awards glory.

The official trailer for the much-anticipated crime caper has made its debut appearance via ABC News.

The story sees Bradley Cooper (The Hangover trilogy, SLP) play FBI agent Richie DiMaso as he teams up with Bronx conman Irving Rosenfeld, played by Oscar-winner Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy, The Fighter). The pair find themselves having to take down mobsters and the corrupt major of New Jersey in the Abscam operations of the 70s/80s.

Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games, SLP), Amy Adams (The Fighter, Man of Steel), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Avengers), two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas) and Michael Pena (Crash, End of Watch) are amongst the brilliant cast that support the two sufficient leads.

The film is set for release in December though that may only be the US one for now….
