Captain Jack Sparrow is confronted by an old enemy in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales trailer

Fourteen years after strutting his way onto our screens, Captain Jack Sparrow remains one of cinema’s most popular characters.

But although things haven’t been easy for actor Johnny Depp lately, the Oscar-nominated star is back playing the heroic pirate for a fifth (and final) time in the upcoming sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Following the release of a couple of teasers, a full length trailer is now available to view.

Directed by Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Rønning & Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki, Marco Polo), the plot sees Sparrow teaming up with a Royal Navy sailor and an astronomer as they attempt to find the Trident of Poseidon. However a notorious Spanish pirate named Captain Salazar is looking to take revenge on Sparrow with the help of an army of ghost pirates.

No stranger to playing sinister villains, Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Skyfall) plays Salazar with Brenton Thwaites (Home and Away, Maleficent), Kaya Scodelario (Skins, The Maze Runner series), David Wenham (Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lion) and Golshifteh Farahani (Body of Lies, Exodus: Gods and Kings) amongst the other newcomers to the action adventure franchise.

In the meantime, there are returns from Pirates veterans like Geoffrey Rush (Barbossa), Kevin McNally (Gibbs) and Stephen Graham (Scrum). It has also been speculated that original stars Orlando Bloom (Will Turner) and Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Turner) will be making brief appearances in the film.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (entitled Salazar’s Revenge in the UK) will drop anchor in cinemas on May 26th.
