Captain America and Iron Man clash over Bucky Barnes in official trailer for Captain America: Civil War

With more characters joining the Avengers ranks in the recent blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron, things are set to get more tense for our favourite superheroes in the next Marvel outing.

After his exhilarating outing in the previous Cap film The Winter Soldier (2014), Chris Evans returns as the heroic Captain America and is joined by plenty of his old friends (and a couple of newbies) for the upcoming feature Captain America: Civil War.

Evans and his co-star Robert Downey Jr (Tony Stark / Iron Man) unveiled the film’s official trailer during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live which you can now see below.

Directed again by the Russo Brothers, the plot sees Steve Rogers / Captain America track down his old friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) who was brainwashed by HYDRA into becoming the Winter Soldier in the previous CA film. However with the armed forces closing in on Buck, Steve aims to protect him but also risks damaging his friendship with Tony Stark as the future of the Avengers is left in jeopardy.

As confirmed back in May, the blockbuster features a monumental cast consisting of Avengers favourites including Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow) and Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton / Hawkeye) as well as Age of Ultron recruits Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson / Falcon), Don Cheadle (Jim Rhodes / War Machine), Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch) and Paul Bettany (Vision).

The trailer also shows brief footage of Chadwick Boseman (42′, Get On Up) as T’Challa / Black Panther while there is the small matter of British youngster Tom Holland (The Impossible, In the Heart of the Sea) who is set to make his Marvel bow as Peter Parker / Spiderman.

There will also be debuts in the money-making franchise for Daniel Bruhl (Inglorious Basterds, Rush) and British star Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit trilogy) though their roles have yet to be specified.

Other familiar faces making an appearance include William Hurt (General Thaddeus Ross), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter) and Frank Grillo (Brock Rumlow / Crossbones) while Paul Rudd reprises his well-received role as Scott Lang / Ant-Man following the success of his own big-screen outing this year.

Captain America: Civil War will be released in the UK on April 29th 2016.
