It seems like a while since we saw Will Ferrell on our screens, but his fans will be pleased to know that a trailer has been released for his new political comedy, The Campaign.
Comedy fans will also enjoy the fact that he goes head-to-head with fellow funny guy Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) as the two men play competing politicians who try to pull pranks on each other in order to win the congressional seat for North Carolina.
The film is directed by Jay Roach, who made the well-renowned Meet the Parents, and features humorous support from Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters) and John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun). The film is out in the UK on September 28th.
Admittedly, Ferrell is a little hit-and-miss, especially with overrated farce like Anchorman and Talladega Nights, though Blades of Glory is probably his funniest film. But the trailer for this did make me chuckle, and it’ll be intriguing to see how Ferrell and Galifianakis fare on-screen together, particularly with the subject.
But will it be as funny as other political satires like In the Loop? Maybe not, but the Ferrell/Galifianakis rivalry should provide a few laughs.
