Last year, Wes Anderson made a return to form with his quirky comedy Moonrise Kingdom which bolstered a fine cast and one of the best screenplays of 2012.
He looks certain to repeat that feat in 2014 with his latest film, the excellent-looking dramedy The Grand Budapest Hotel. Featuring another sensational cast, the film has premiered its official trailer.
Set in 1920s Hungary, the story sees Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List, Harry Potter series) play the role of a hotel concierge who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a young lobby boy (played by newcomer Tony Revolori). The pair find themselves at the centre of a theft involving a missing painting and the battle for a family fortune.
Several of Anderson’s former actors make appearances in the film including Adrien Brody (The Pianist, King Kong), Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Spiderman) Bill Murray (Ghostbusters, Lost in Translation), Edward Norton (American History X, Fight Club), Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited), Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin, Moonrise Kingdom) and Owen Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Midnight in Paris).
There are also roles in the phenomenal ensemble for F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus, Homeland), Mathieu Amalric (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Quantum of Solace), Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Independence Day), Harvey Keitel (Mean Streets, Taxi Driver), Jude Law (The Talented Mr Ripley, Sherlock Holmes), Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, Hanna), Lea Seydoux (Robin Hood, Blue is the Warmest Color) and Tom Wilkinson (The Full Monty, Batman Begins).
The film will be released in cinemas at some point in 2014.
