Jessica Chastain to star in Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak

2013 has already been a successful year for Jessica Chastain as the red-headed beauty not only earned her second Oscar-nomination for her role in Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty but she also made history by becoming the first actress in 50 years to have two films in the top two slots at the US box office.

It is thanks to her other film, the gothic horror Mama, that she has made the decision to work again with director/producer Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) as the pair collaborate on another goth-horror in the shape of Crimson Peak.

The film’s plot focuses on a woman who discovers her husband might not be who he appears to be. Del Toro has described the film as “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story”.

Jessica’s role is not yet known though she is set to reunite with fellow rising actress Emma Stone (Easy A, The Amazing Spider-Man), her co-star from The Help as well as starring alongside British actor Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Star Trek into Darkness) and Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy).

Filming will begin on the project in February 2014. In the meantime, Jessica is currently shooting her next film Miss Julie in Ireland but will next appear on our screens alongside James McAvoy (Atonement, X-Men: First Class) in the upcoming drama The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.
