Six years after her incredible breakthrough year of 2011, Jessica Chastain (The Help, Zero Dark Thirty, The Martian) has flourished as an actress and is now one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
However her hunt for Oscar success is set to drag on following the mixed reception received by her newest film Miss Sloane. Though Jessica received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the film, it failed to make a splash elsewhere during awards season.
Focusing on a controversial topic in America right now, the gun control drama’s trailer can be seen below:
Directed by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), the film sees Jessica play Elizabeth Sloane, a powerful lobbyist who decides to risk her career in order to introduce laws that will restrict gun control.
The film’s support cast includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion, Beauty and the Beast), Alison Pill (Milk, The Newsroom), Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Grimsby), Michael Stuhlbarg (Boardwalk Empire, Trumbo), Jake Lacy (Carol, Girls), John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun, The Crown) and Sam Waterston (The Killing Fields, The Newsroom).
Miss Sloane will be released in the UK on May 12th.
