BBC officially confirms Still Game Series 8

After making a smashing comeback to our television screens last year, Still Game is continuing its strong revival with an upcoming eighth series.

The sitcom, which centres on a group of cranky pensioners in a rough Scottish town, will be back with six more episodes (“That’s plenty!”) later this year after receiving the green light from the BBC.

The news comes following the recent success of Series 7 as well as the hit stage show which performed well at the Hydro last month.

Creators and stars Ford Kiernan (Jack Jarvis) and Greg Hemphill (Victor McDade) both gave comments on the sitcom’s upcoming return.

Greg: “We can’t wait to get started on the next batch of adventures with Jack and Victor. We have lots of surprises in store for you!”

Ford: “Chuffed to bits to be coming back for series eight. Greg and I have been cooking up some absolute corkers and we can’t wait to show you what they are.”

The pair are joined once again by their beloved support cast which includes Paul Riley (Winston Ingram), Mark Cox (Tam Mullen), Jane McCarry (Isa Drennan), Sanjeev Kohli (Navid Harrid), Gavin Mitchell (Boaby the Barman) and James Martin (Eric). Director Michael Hines is also back on board while Scott Reid is set to return following a successful debut performance as young drug addict Methadone Mick in Series 7.

Still Game Series 8 will be back on BBC One sometime around Autumn.
