Reader beware, you’re in for a scare!
That particular saying was a popular one back in the 1990s when many avid young readers (like myself) were left on edge by every page of the thrilling horror book series Goosebumps.
The transition to television proved just as petrifying for viewers but after a long absence from our minds, the spooky characters of that universe are back to scare us on the big-screen in the upcoming action-horror ‘Goosebumps‘.
Author R.L. Stine and his creatures are the main focus in the family blockbuster with comedian actor Jack Black (Shallow Hal, School of Rock) portraying Stine in the film which has now released its official trailer.
Directed by Rob Letterman (Shark Tale, Gulliver’s Travels), the story focuses on a teenager named Zach who upon moving into a small town, falls in love with his next door neighbour Hannah. However he soon discovers that her mysterious father is actually renowned horror author R.L. Stine. When Zach accidentally unlocks Stine’s Goosebump manuscripts, it unleashes the monsters who then start terrifying the people of the town. It is left up to Zach, Hannah and Stine to try and return the ghouls to the books.
Dylan Minnette (Let Me In, Prisoners) and Odeya Rush (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Giver) play the young heroes with additional support coming from Amy Ryan (The Wire, Birdman), Kumail Nanjiani (Sex Tape, Silicon Valley) and Timothy Simons (Veep, The Interview).
Goosebumps will be released in the UK early next year on 16th February 2016.
