Cardinal Ralph Fiennes gets caught in the middle of a papal conspiracy in Conclave trailer

The official trailer for Conclave is here.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Robert Harris, the religious-based thriller brings plenty of intrigue from its narrative as well as a talented ensemble cast.

Directed by Edward Berger (Patrick Melrose, All Quiet on the Western Front), the plot centres on a seasoned Cardinal who is tasked with selecting a new Pope after the current position becomes vacant. While searching for a successor, he soon finds himself at the centre of a conspiracy and discovers a secret that could shake the very foundation of the Catholic Church.

Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List, The English Patient) leads the film’s cast alongside Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones, Spotlight), John Lithgow (Terms of Endearment, The Crown), Lucian Msamati (Kiri, See How They Run), Carlos Diehz (The Vegan Vampire), Brían F. O’Byrne (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, Little Boy Blue), Sergio Castellitto (The Star Maker, Don’t Move), and Isabella Rossellini (Blue Velvet, Joy).

Tipped to be among the main contenders of this upcoming awards season, Conclave will be released in UK cinemas on 15 November.
