An official trailer for the Prima Facie film has finally arrived.

The upcoming legal drama sees renowned British star Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Wicked) take centre stage in the cinematic take of the acclaimed stage play by Suzie Miller.

Directed by Susanna White (Bleak House, Andor) and adapted by Miller, the story follows Tessa Ensler, a brilliant yet ruthless lawyer who defends men accused of sexual assault. However, a life-altering event forces her to forces her to reckon with her belief in the judicial system that was once the core of her identity as she fights to reclaim her voice and sense of self.

Erivo is joined by a solid supporting cast that includes Daniel Ings (The Gentlemen, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), Toheeb Jimoh (Ted Lasso, Industry), Elizabeth Dulau (Andor, House of Guinness), Harry Treadaway (Control, Penny Dreadful), Sarah Junillon (FBI: International, Red Eye), Elliot Levey (Quiz, Bookish), Noma Dumezweni (The Undoing, Murderbot), and Simon Russell Beale (The Deep Blue Sea, The Death of Stalin).

Prima Facie was first conceived by Miller in 2019 and later found success as a one-woman stage play on the West End and Broadway with Jodie Comer deservedly winning an Olivier Award and a Tony Award for her powerhouse portrayal of Tessa.

However, this new adaptation recently premiered to mixed reviews at the Toronto Film Festival, though audiences will get a chance to make up their own mind on the film when it arrives in UK cinemas on 13 November.
