Zookeeper Jessica Chastain helps save Jewish refugees in The Zookeeper’s Wife trailer

With her upcoming gun-control film Miss Sloane due out soon, Jessica Chastain is continuing to tackle compelling projects in her ongoing bid to become an Oscar-winning actress.

The red-headed star of The Help (2011), Zero Dark Thirty (2012) and The Martian (2015) is set for another key role in the World War II-based drama The Zookeeper’s Wife which is due out next year.

The biopic has premiered its official trailer for all to see.

Directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider, North Country) and adapted from Diane Ackerman’s novel, the film depicts the true story of married Polish zookeepers Antonia and Jan Zabinski who helped save hundreds of Jewish refugees and animals during the Nazi invasion in World War II.

Jessica and Johan Heldenberg (The Broken Circle Breakdown, The Tunnel) portray the couple with support coming from Daniel Bruhl (Inglorious Basterds, Rush), Iddo Goldberg (Peaky Blinders, Salem), Efrat Dor (Asfur, Downton Precinct) and Michael McElhatton (The Fall, Game of Thrones).

The Zookeeper’s Wife will be released in the UK on 5th May 2017.
