When it comes to award contenders, there is always a majority of people who make early predictions for the Oscars. The trailer for one of those potential contenders has just been released in the shape of the indie-dramedy The Sessions.
The fact-based film which stars John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone, Martha Marcy May Marlene), Oscar-winner Helen Hunt (Twister, As Good as it Gets) and William H. Macy (Fargo, Seabiscuit) focuses on a writer (Hawkes) who is confined to a hospital bed which he travels around after contacting polo as a child. He hires a sexual surrogate (Hunt) to help him lose his virginity, with the help of his therapist and priest.
Early buzz has been promising for the film so far after it did well at the Sundance Film Festival with early praise for the performances of Hawkes and Hunt (who has been secluded from big film roles since her Oscar win in ’98).
No official release date has been given for its UK release but it is due out in the States in late October.
