Ben Affleck sets out to rescue US diplomats held hostage in Iran in Argo trailer

The official trailer is up for Ben Affleck’s new film Argo.

Two years after the success of his acclaimed thriller The Town (2010), the Oscar-winning actor-turned-filmmaker is looking to make a big impact with the fact-based drama.

The film focuses on how C.I.A. operative Tony Mendez (Affleck) led the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran, under the guise of filming a science-fiction film during the 1979–1981 Iran hostage crisis.

Affleck is joined by an effective support cast that includes Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski), Victor Garber (Alias), Tate Donovan (Damages), Clea Duvall (Zodiac), Scoot McNairy (Monsters), Rory Cochrane (CSI: Miami), Christopher Denham (Charlie Wilson’s War), Kerry Bishé (Scrubs), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Chris Messina (Greenberg) and Oscar winner Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine).

Touted as an unlikely awards contender, Argo will arrive in UK cinemas on 7 November.
