Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood recreate the Miracle on the Hudson in Sully trailer

As two of Hollywood’s biggest film stars, Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood have been involved in multiple biopics about various individuals from Charlie Wilson and Captain Richard Phillips to J Edgar Hoover and Chris Kyle.

The heavyweight pair are now teaming up for the first time as they tackle the miraculous true story of one man’s heroism in preventing a national tragedy.

Entitled Sully, the film has released its official trailer which you can see below.

Directed by Eastwood (Unforgiven, American Sniper), the film sees Hanks (Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Captain Phillips) portray Captain Chesley Sullenberger, a veteran pilot who helped to prevent his plane from crashing by landing in the Hudson River in 2009. His heroic act helped save 155 passengers though the story also depicts the aftermatch of the event itself.

Hanks is supported by Laura Linney (Love Actually, The Big C) as Sullenberger’s wife, Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight, Olympus Has Fallen) as his co-pilot and Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad, Gracepoint) as an investigative doctor.

Touted as a potential awards contender, Sully will be released in the UK on December 2nd.
