A poignant new trailer has landed for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.
The long-anticipated period drama not only serves as a conclusion to the Downton film trilogy, but also marks the end of the franchise’s fifteen-plus year run, which include six series of the hit BAFTA and Emmy-winning programme.
Helmed by Simon Curtis (Downton Abbey: A New Era) and written by creator and executive producer Julian Fellowes, the story sees Lady Mary Talbot caught at the centre of a public scandal, while the Crawley family and their entire household grapple with financial trouble, and the threat of social disgrace.
As to be expected, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern reprise their key roles as Lady Mary, Robert Crawley and Cora Crawley respectively, and are joined by a high number of fellow Downton regulars including Laura Carmichael (Edith Pelham), Jim Carter (Charles Carson), Raquel Cassidy (Phyllis Baxter), Paul Copley (Albert Mason), Brendan Coyle (John Bates), Kevin Doyle (Joseph Molesley), Michael Fox (Andy Parker), Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates), Harry Hadden-Paton (Herbert “Bertie” Pelham), Robert James-Collier (Thomas Barrow), Allen Leech (Tom Branson), Phyllis Logan (Elsie Carson), Sophie McShera (Daisy Parker), Lesley Nicol (Beryl Patmore), Douglas Reith (Richard “Dickie” Grey) and Penelope Wilton (Isobel Grey).
Additionally, there are notable reappearances from Paul Giamatti and Dominic West as Harold Levinson and Guy Dexter respectively, while the new additions to the weighty cast include Joely Richardson (Lady Chatterley, Nip/Tuck), Alessandro Nivola (Disobedience, The Brutalist), Simon Russell Beale (A Dance to the Music of Time, The Death of Stalin) and Arty Froushan (Carnival Row, Daredevil: Born Again).
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale will be released in UK cinemas on 12 September.
