Samuel L. Jackson and co. get caught up in a snowstorm in official trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight

Three years after helming the brilliant western thriller Django Unchained (2012), maverick director Quentin Tarantino is returning to the Old West for his eighth feature, The Hateful Eight.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker of Reservoir Dogs (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994) and Inglorious Basterds (2009) has opted to make the film in the classical 70mm style as well as merging a talented ensemble cast.

Amongst those appearing in the film is his former Pulp Fiction actor Samuel L. Jackson (Star Wars prequel trilogy, The Avengers) who dominates the western’s first official trailer.

Set just after the Civil War, the film centres on a stagecoach of passengers travelling through Wyoming who are forced to seek refuge in a cabin when a huge snowstorm strikes. They end up sharing the place with a group of other individuals which leads to conflict that threatens to jeopardise their lives.

Jackson plays the role of bounty hunter Major Marquis Warren with other former Tarantino actors to appear in the film being Grindhouse star Kurt Russell as fellow bounty hunter John Ruth, Django’s Walton Goggins as sheriff Chris Mannix and Reservoir Dogs duo Tim Roth and Michael Madsen as hangman Oswaldo Mobray and cow-puncher Joe Gage respectively.

The newcomers to the Tarantino film universe are Jennifer Jason Leigh (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Single White Female) as fugitive Daisy Domergue, Demian Bichir (A Better Life, The Bridge) as cabin owner Bob and veteran Bruce Dern (Coming Home, Nebraska) as Confederate General Sanford Smithers.

The Hateful Eight will be released in the UK on January 8th 2016.
