Power Rangers film reboot in the works

Those of you who experienced the 90s as youngsters will have fond memories of one particular television series involving a group of colourful warriors…..

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers kept many of us entertained during that illustrious decade particularly in the successful 1993 show of the same name.

But once again, the ‘reboot’ trend has struck for the umpteenth time after Lionsgate and Saban Entertainment announced today that the Power Rangers will be gaining a new cinematic remake.

The reincarnated production will see the Power Rangers be re-imagined as a group of high school kids with unusual super powers, who must learn to take control of their abilities as a group in order to save the world.

In a brief statement, Saban Entertainment entrepreneur Haim Saban said:

“Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level. They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from The Hunger Games to Twilight and Divergent.

In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we’re confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own.”

While Lionsgate have a great track record with making teenage-themed blockbusters, they will have to ensure that this reboot is a bigger improvement on the abysmal 1995 film….

Go, go Power Rangers!
