LEGO makes its big screen debut in official trailer for The LEGO Movie

For over 100 years, LEGO has become one of the most renowned franchises in many people’s lives especially for young children. But the mini-figure toys are about to finally make their bow onto the big-screen in the assembled form of The LEGO Movie.

Made through stop-motion animation, the 2014 release has launched its first official trailer via Youtube.

Directed and co-written by 21 Jump Street duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the film follows an ordinary LEGO mini-figure named Emmet who becomes wrongfully mistaken as the supreme MasterBuilder. However his incorrect identity leads to him embarking on a quest to stop an evil LEGO villain from destroying the world.

Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, Guardians of the Galaxy) voices the heroic figure with other experience vocal work coming from Will Ferrell (Anchorman, Blades of Glory), Liam Neeson (Batman Begins, Taken), Alison Brie (Mad Men, Community), Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption, The Dark Knight trilogy), Elizabeth Banks (Seabiscuit, The Hunger Games) and Will Arnett (Blades of Glory, Arrested Development).

The pieces of this film will come together at cinemas on Valentine’s Day 2014.
