Ladies and gentlemen, there’s something strange….and it don’t look good.
Back in 1984, Bill Murray and his band of geeky scientists kicked spooky ass when they took on various ghosts in the sci-fi blockbuster Ghostbusters.
The film is finally making its long-awaited comeback albeit through a new look (and female!) team of heroes as shown in the reboot’s official trailer.
Helmed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat), the plot is not yet known though the footage seems to suggest that the story will bare similarities to its original predecessor.
The Bridesmaids connection is established not only by Feig’s direction but by the castings of his former actresses Kristen Wiig (Paul, The Martian) and Melissa McCarthy (The Heat, Spy) as leading heroines Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates.
Rounding off the new look team of Ghostbusters are Saturday Night Live duo Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan while Marvel star Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers) plays the group’s handsome secretary Kevin.
The film’s cast also includes Andy Garcia (The Untouchables, Oceans trilogy), Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire) and Elizabeth Perkins (Big, Weeds).
However nostalgic fans of the original flick will be pleased to know that former Ghostbuster veterans Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Dan Aykroyd (Raymond Stantz), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddmore), Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett) and Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz) are all set to appear at some point in the new film.
The Ghostbusters reboot will be released in cinemas on July 15th.
