Knives Out sequel officially in the works

Knives Out fans, it’s time to get your cigars and woolly jumpers out again!

Following its commercial and critical success last year, the light-hearted mystery from Rian Johnson is officially getting a sequel.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed the good news yesterday and also hinted that more films could follow. With the original outing grossing nearly $300 million at the worldwide box-office, a follow-up always seemed likely.

It also performed well during awards season as it received an Oscar and BAFTA nomination for Johnson’s original screenplay as well as three Golden Globe nods.

The sequel should also see a return for leading actor Daniel Craig who received praise for his performance as private investigator Benoit Blanc.

The timing couldn’t be better for the Wirral-born star with his iconic role as James Bond set to conclude in April.

More casting news is expected to be announced though it is unlikely that other original stars like Ana de Armas or Chris Evans will be back.

Production on Knives Out 2 is set to start later this year.
