Joel Kinnaman is the new RoboCop in official trailer for RoboCop remake

Back in 1987, the sci-fi thriller RoboCop made a big impression on film fans with its cool gadgets, gruesome violence and a memorable hero/villain combination.

Now 26 years on, it has become the latest futuristic classic to be the subject of a remake following in the recent footsteps of Dredd and Total Recall.

Those who have stood loyal to the original, look away now! The new version has premiered its official trailer online….

Again set in the future, the film sees cop Alex Murphy (now played by The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman) become mortally wounded after a car bombing. Through the help of cybernetic designers, he gets rebuilt as a cyborg cop and vows to bring justice to his crime-ridden city.

Kinnaman is joined by a surprisingly brilliant support cast including Gary Oldman (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, The Dark Knight trilogy), Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice, Batman), Abbie Cornish (Bright Star, Seven Psychopaths), Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Star Wars Prequel trilogy), Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire) and Jackie Earl Haley (Little Children, Watchmen).

Strike Entertainment will have to be wary that some audiences won’t want to see this remake, dead or alive!

The film is due out early next year on February 7th 2014.
