In the television fields, ABC’s Abbott Elementary has the early advantage with an impressive five nominations at this year’s Golden Globe Awards.
Set in a predominantly Black school in Philadelphia, the mockumentary-style sitcom is up for Best Television Series (Comedy or Musical) while creator and leading star Quinta Brunson is nodded for Best Actress (Comedy/Musical).

Once again, veteran leads Steve Martin and Martin Short contest the Best Actor (Comedy/Musical) category, while youthful co-star Selena Gomez earns a Best Actress (Comedy/Musical) nod.
Abbott and Only Murders are both joined on the Best Television Series (Comedy/Musical) shortlist by HBO Max’s Hacks, and two new contenders in FX’s The Bear and Netflix’s Wednesday.
From those comedies, Hacks star Jean Smart is looking to repeat her Best Actress (Comedy) win from last year as she competes against Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant) and Jenna Ortega (Wednesday).
Meanwhile, the Best Actor (Comedy/Musical) line-up sees previous category winner Donald Glover (Atlanta) come up against Bill Hader (Barry) and new nominee Jeremy Allen White (The Bear).

After prevailing at the Emmys back in September, Zendaya is looking to add another accolade to her awards display after landing a Best Actress (Drama) nod for her returning role in HBO’s Euphoria.
Her competition in that category includes Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon), Laura Linney (Ozark) and surprise nominee Hilary Swank (Alaska Daily).
The Best Actor (Drama) field sees Hollywood veterans Jeff Bridges (The Old Man) and Kevin Costner (Yellowstone), come up against Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) as well as two new contenders in Diego Luna (Andor) and Adam Scott (Severance).
Meanwhile, reigning Emmy winner Julia Garner (Ozark) is the among the standout names in contention for supporting honours with Hannah Einbinder (Hacks), John Lithgow (The Old Man), John Turturro (Severance), Henry Winkler (Barry) also acknowledged for their performances.
In the limited categories, the controversial Netflix miniseries Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is up for four Globes, including the coveted Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television accolade.
The biographical crime drama, which explores the life of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, also earns a hat-trick of nods for its cast, with Evan Peters earning a Best Actor (Limited/Anthology/TV Movie) mention for his portrayal of Dahmer.
Additionally, co-stars Niecy Nash and Richard Jenkins are acknowledged for their turns in two newly-formed categories that recognise the best supporting performances in the limited fields.
Hulu’s Pam & Tommy and the second series of HBO’s The White Lotus also garnered attention from the Globes with three nods apiece, including a place on the main shortlist, which is rounded off by Apple TV+’s Black Bird, and Hulu’s The Dropout.
From those programmes, Emmy winner Amanda Seyfried receive another Best Actress (Limited/Anthology/TV Movie) nod for her portrayal of controversial entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout.
