Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke cast as Sarah Connor in Terminator reboot

British beauty Emilia Clarke is starting to make big strides in her film career as she looks to move away from her role as Daenerys ‘Khaleesi’ Targaryen in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones.

2013 has already been a busy one for her with her continuous involvement with Thrones as well as appearances in Spike Island and Dom Hemingway added to her glittering CV.

But she will soon be swapping dragons for machines in her biggest cinematic role to date after she was finally confirmed for the role of Sarah Connor in the new Terminator reboot (yes them again!).

Despite competition from Brie Larson (Community, Short Term 12) and Margot Robbie (Neighbours, The Wolf of Wall Street), Clarke will take on the iconic part made famous by Linda Hamilton in James Cameron’s classic Terminator franchise after impressing Paramount and Skydance executives.

Alan Taylor, who worked with the 26 year old on Game of Thrones, is directing the new Terminator film which will also involve the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the robotic cyborg.

Speculation is also suggesting that Jason Clarke (Lawless, Zero Dark Thirty) will play the new John Connor (previously played by Edward Furlong and Christian Bale amongst others) in the reboot but that has yet to be officially confirmed.

The film is scheduled for release on July 1st 2015.
