Final Hunger Games film ‘Mockingjay’ to be split in two

One trend that is becoming popular with film franchises nowadays is the decision to split their final film into two parts. Harry Potter did it. Twilight and The Hobbit are about to do it. Now it is the turn of a new series which is already making a big impression at the world-wide box-office.

According to Deadline, the final Hunger Games novel Mockingjay will become a two-part film adaptation with Part I set for release on November 21st, 2014 as confirmed by its company Lionsgate. Part 2 will then follow a year later on November 20, 2015.

The Hunger Games franchise has been growing rapidly after the phenomenal success of the first film which made $678.2 million worldwide.

Its follow-up Catching Fire is already in production with Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jena Malone being the big-name castings so far.
