Dolittle leads 2021 Razzie nominations, Rudy Giuliani and Glenn Close amongst acting contenders

As is a somewhat unfortunate tradition with awards season, the Golden Raspberrys have revealed their list of contenders for the worst of film in 2020/21.

Two remakes share the lead with six nominations apiece; the family adventure Dolittle and 365 Days, a Polish rip-off of the racy thriller Fifty Shades of Grey.

Dolittle is up for Worst Picture and Worst Director (Stephen Maghan) while Robert Downey Jr. is shortlisted in Worst Actor for his role as the title character.

365 Days also contests in Worst Picture and Director while leading stars Michele Morrone and Anna-Maria Sieklucka are both nominated in Worst Actor and Actress respectively.

Another remake has cropped up the Worst Picture line-up in Fantasy Island which also landed double mentions in Supporting Actress for Lucy Hale and Maggie Q.

Meanwhile, singer Sia’s controversial autism-based dramedy Music is up for a number of awards including Worst Picture with actresses Kate Hudson and Maddie Ziegler also dishonoured. This comes a month after the film surprisingly scored two Golden Globe nominations.

Despite still being in contention for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, Glenn Close has the misfortune of being nodded by the Razzies for her performance in the critically-mauled biopic Hillbilly Elegy. Director Ron Howard is also acknowledged for his work behind the camera.

Elsewhere, former New York City major Rudy Giuliani has been nodded twice for his controversial appearance in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. As well as being up for Worst Screen Combo, he is also in contention for Worst Supporting Actor alongside prolific Hollywood stars like Chevy Chase (The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Iron Mask) and Bruce Willis (Breach, Hard Kill AND Survive the Night).

Other high-profile names in contention for awards are Adam Sandler (Hubie Halloween), Anne Hathaway (The Last Thing He Wanted & Roald Dahl’s The Witches), Katie Holmes (Brahms: The Boy II & The Secret: Dare to Dream), Kristen Wiig (Wonder Woman 1984) and Harrison Ford (Call of the Wild).

The winners of the 41st Golden Raspberry Awards will be announced the day before the Oscars on April 24.
