With Oscar season almost upon us, various contenders are starting to give intrigued audiences their first glimpse of what to expect in the coming months.
One particular film that is being touted for awards success is the romantic drama Carol, which made its bow at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
Based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith (Strangers on a Train, The Talented Mr Ripley), the film has unveiled a new full-length trailer.
Directed by Todd Haynes (Far from Heaven, Little Children), the plot sees two-time Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett (The Aviator, Blue Jasmine) play Carol, a high-class socialite in a loveless marriage who ends up having a lesbian affair with a department store clerk named Therese.
Oscar-nominee Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Side Effects) plays Therese with additional acting support coming from Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, The Wolf of Wall Street) and Sarah Paulson (12 Years a Slave, American Horror Story).
Carol will be released in the UK on November 27th.
