Back in 1998, Roland Emmerich’s US version of Godzilla backfired badly when the monster movie remake was panned by critics and audiences (as well as being lavished with Razzie awards!).

But the terrifying beast is looking set for a sensational comeback to the big-screen in 2014 as British filmmaker Gareth Edwards (Monsters) directs the tense-looking remake of Godzilla.

Following the brief teaser that was shown at Comic-Con, the action blockbuster has finally premiered its first two-minute plus trailer via YOUTUBE.

The remake sees the giant creature cause chaos and devastation on America (again!) which leads to the government and the army fighting back as they look to try and save their country from destruction.

The film’s stellar cast features Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Nowhere Boy), Bryan ‘Heisenberg’ Cranston (Breaking Bad, Argo), Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene, Oldboy), Sally Hawkins (Happy Go-Lucky, Blue Jasmine) and Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Chocolat).

The big-budget flick will be released in cinemas on May 16th 2014.
