Gangster Ben Affleck gets caught up in organised crime during the 1920s in Live By Night trailer

Following his diverse portrayal of Bruce Wayne / Batman in this year’s superhero blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ben Affleck has stepped back into the directing chair for his newest film.

The Oscar-winning actor / filmmaker of Gone Baby Gone (2007) and Argo (2012) is starring and directing the upcoming gangster drama Live By Night which is based on Dennis Lahane’s 2012 novel.

Warner Brothers unveiled its official trailer earlier today.

Set in the roaring twenties, the plot sees Affleck play Joe Coughlin, the son of a Boston police captain who gets involved in organised crime and goes on to become one of Florida’s most notorious gangsters.

The film’s talented ensemble also includes Elle Fanning (Trumbo, The Neon Demon), Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges, Suffragette), Chris Messina (Argo, The Mindy Project), Sienna Miller (The Girl, American Sniper), Zoe Saldaña (Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Trek trilogy), Scott Eastwood (Fury, Suicide Squad), Titus Welliver (The Town, Bosch), Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club, The Dark Knight) and Oscar winner Chris Cooper (American Beauty, Adaptation).

Live By Night will be released in cinemas on January 13th 2017.
