DC Comics have recently been stepping up their bid to rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe by launching a series of origin flicks that have built up to an epic team’ film a’la The Avengers.
But despite the underwhelming reception for last year’s superhero blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros and director Zack Snyder are set to finally unveil their take on the eagerly anticipated Justice League film.
Following the release of a teaser a few months ago, an official trailer is now available for all to see.
Following on from the events of Dawn of Justice, the film sees Ben Affleck reprise his diverse role as Bruce Wayne / Batman along with Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman. The pair find themselves having to recruit a team of new superheroes so that they can help save the planet from a deadly attack. Sound familiar?
The film’s large ensemble sees Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan), Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) and Ray Fisher (Batman v Superman) become part of the new Justice League lineup in their respective roles as Arthur Curry / Aquaman, Barry Allen / Flash and Victor Stone / Cyborg.
Despite their previous involvement with Marvel, versatile actors JK Simmons (Spider-Man trilogy, Whiplash) and Willem Dafoe (Platoon, The Grand Budapest Hotel) are both cast in this film with the former taking on the popular role of Commissioner James Gordon. Amber Heard (Never Back Down, The Danish Girl), Ciaran Hinds (Above Suspicion, Game of Thrones) and Kiersey Clemons (Transparent, Bad Neighbours 2) are the other newcomers onboard for this project.
With Wonder Woman due to hit cinemas in early June, there are actors from that film appearing in Justice League too which include Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Samantha Jo (Euboea) and Eleanor Matsuura (Epione).
Finally, Batman v Superman stars Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor) are all set to feature despite the apparent absence of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman.
Justice League will be released in the UK on November 17th.
