Alan Partridge is caught up in a siege in official trailer for Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa

A-HA! Over 20 years since making his screen debut, hapless Norwich DJ Alan Partridge is finally making the leap onto the big-screen as he prepares to make his film debut in the upcoming comedy Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.

However judging from the new official trailer for the film, it won’t be plain-sailing for the long-suffering broadcaster….

Written by Partridge actor Steve Coogan and Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It, In the Loop), the plot sees Alan’s radio station North Norfolk Digital being taken over by a major media company which results in many staff redundancies and a re-brand. However one particular worker goes mad and arms himself with a gun and lays siege to the building resulting in Alan being used as a negotiator by the police to try and talk the man out of causing harm.

Coogan is joined by other former Alan Partridge actors including his loyal PA Lynne (Felicity Montagu), Geordie garage worker Michael (Simon Greenall) and rival DJ Dave Clifton (Phil Cornwell). Other additions to the cast include Colm Meaney (Con-Air, The Damned United), Sean Pertwee (Dog Soldiers, Wild Bill) and Monica Dolan (Appropriate Adult).

We may well be kissing Alan’s face if the film impresses with the official release date confirmed for August 7th.
