Back in December last year, Lord of the Rings fans got a sneak preview of director Peter Jackson’s prequel of the acclaimed trilogy: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey which earned a warm reception.
Nine months since then, Jackson has already announced that the prequel will become a trilogy and with the first part due out in December, the second trailer for it has finally been revealed.
More footage is shown in the new trailer of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) beginning his quest to find the dragon Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) with the help of a large group of dwarves.
Sir Ian McKellen reprises his role as Gandalf the Grey with Cate Blanchett (Galadriel), Hugo Weaving (Elrond) and Andy Serkis (Gollum) also returning. Those three actors feature more heavily in this trailer with the latter character getting to share scenes with Bilbo.
The prequel is due out on December 14th.
