As he prepares to take on a key role in the hugely-anticipated Star Wars sequel The Force Awakens, Oscar Isaac has managed to land another top franchise gig via the superhero genre.
The Golden Globe-nominated star of Inside Llewyn Davies and the upcoming thriller A Most Violent Year has officially signed up to play the notorious villain Apocalypse in the latest X-Men sequel, Apocalypse.
Apocalypse – a mutant who is both ancient and immortal – is one of the classic enemies of the X-Men series.
The new outing also sees James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) reprise their roles from 2011’s First Class and this year’s Days of Future Past.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be released in the UK on May 19th 2016.
