With Disney and LucasFilm raking in the profits from the current box-office juggernaut Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the two corporations are now looking to focus on the next film from the Star Wars revival.
As many are aware, it has been confirmed that there will be a spin-off film focusing on the young rogue pilot Han Solo, as portrayed in the original trilogy and Force Awakens by the legendary Harrison Ford.
It is understood through sources that several young actors are competing for the coveted role with Miles Teller (Whiplash, Fantastic Four) the biggest name mentioned so far.
Other candidates include Ansel Elgort (The Fault in our Stars, Divergent series), Dave Franco (21 Jump Street, Now You See Me), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Scott Eastwood (Gran Torino, The Longest Ride), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Fury), Emory Cohen (Smash, Brooklyn) and Glee star Blake Jenner.
Producer Kathleen Kennedy and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie) are hoping to make a decision on the choice within the next few weeks.
It has also been suggested that the young Solo could make his first appearance in this year’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story though it would be nothing more than a cameo.
The Han Solo spin-off is due for release on May 25th 2018.
