Earlier this year, Mark Wahlberg (The Departed, Ted) and director Peter Berg (Battleship, Lone Survivor) collaborated on the real-life action biopic Deepwater Horizon which depicted the Deepwater oil spillage that took place in 2010.
Coincidentally, the pair have now worked on a new project that showcases another American tragedy in the form of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, which claimed the lives of three people.
Entitled Patriots Day, the real-life drama has premiered its official trailer online.
The story sees Wahlberg play the role of Tommy Saunders, a fictional Boston police sergeant who gets caught up in the bombing and ends up trying to help those who survived the tragedy. This leads to a city-wide search to find the terrorists responsible.
Wahlberg is joined in the film by John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, Argo), Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gones, True Detective), Kevin Bacon (Footloose, The Following), Melissa Benoist (Glee, Supergirl), Rachel Brosnahan (Beautiful Creatures, House of Cards), Michael Beach (Third Watch, Sons of Anarchy) and Oscar-winner J.K Simmons (Oz, Whiplash).
Patriots Day will be released in the UK on 24th February 2017.
